VID101 Digital Cinematography
Description: Cinematography is the art and science of filmmaking. The rules and techniques of this art have evolved and have been adapted by today's digital production professionals. As a cinematographer, your goal is to shoot with deliberate intention to elicit an emotional response from your audience or to deliver on a specific message. This course explores the aesthetics of filmmaking through the analysis of elements in the cinematographic process. You will learn to define your ideas, use the camera to affect your audience, maintain visual consistency, understand shot timing, use cutting and transitions effectively, and to create a visual tapestry that delivers on your vision.
Topics: Developing a vision, creative camera angles, importance of continuity, editing and pacing, shot types and uses, composition, lighting, and production design.
Duration: 3 days (or 6 evenings)
