GAM222 Game Creation Workshop
Description: The art and science of game creation is a mystery to many of those outside the gaming industry. How assets are created and environments are added into the 3D game engines seem like an overwhelming task for those of use who are not game programmers. This course lifts the veil on game development by providing a hands-on experience in the creation of an actual game. Using a freely available real-time 3d game engine and 3ds Max or Maya, you will create a game environment and game assets, then bring them into the game engine and create a functioning game environment.
Topics include: concept development, environment design, modeling, texturing, and using the game engine, importing assets, environment setup and optimization.
Prerequisite: Students should have a fundamental understanding of computer games and 3ds Max or Maya in order to get the most out of this course.
