MYA232: Maya Character Modeling and Animation
Course Description: Human beings are notoriously difficult to model. Since we are all intimately familiar with how the body should look and move, any imperfection is immediately clear and can be very distracting to an audience.
During this 3-day class you will model, rig, and animate a bipedal humanoid character. You will learn how to create a model that is ready for rigging; attach a skeleton to your character; and create realistic movements. Although this class will focus on humans, the same skills can be widely applied to quadrapedal and alien characters as well.
You will learn:
Sculpting a torso from a box in Polygons and SubD's
Modeling hands and feet
Facial modeling
Constructing the character so it will animate well.
Building a skeleton and rigging your character
Strategies for creating realistic animation
Joint creation and IK, joint control
Level: Intermediate
Duration: 3 Days (or 6 Evenings)
Pre-Requisites: A basic understanding of Maya modeling and animation is required to get the most out of this class. We recommend that you take Maya Fundamentals and Maya Modeling and Materials, or that you have equivalent experience, prior to signing up for this class.
