MYA130 Maya Character Modeling Fundamentals Featured
Description: This session is for those who want to begin to learn character modeling in Maya, without having to learn every single tool before getting started. No experience in Maya is required to take this class. Tutorials in books can make character modeling seem complicated, when in reality only a handful of tools are really needed. In this session, you'll learn the most-used tools as you go along. You'll also learn how the pros adjust their characters to make them easy to animate. By the end of the session you'll create a character suitable for animation, complete with facial features, hair, and clothing.
Topics: Modeling with reference drawings, NURBS Subdivision Surface, and Polygon tools, smart polygonal modeling for "muscles under skin", Maya 2009’s new muscle tool set, assigning materials.
You will learn:
• Setup of reference drawings in Maya
• Sculpting a torso from a box in Polygons and SubD's
• Modeling hands and feet
• Creating clothing and shoes
• Facial modeling
• Simple ways to model hair
• Constructing the character so it will animate well.
