MYA120 Game Concept Development
Description: A game is a world unto itself: fantasy or reality; past, present or future; one city, a world, a universe; turn based, first person, role-playing or multiplayer online. These are all part of the total gaming experience, and each element can make or break the sense of playability of a game. An effective game strikes a balance between these elements and many others. This course is designed to provide you with a solid foundation to the process of developing a game world. You will learn where to begin and what steps you need to take in order to create a balanced experience.
Topics: The history of games, establishing a world, game play styles, striking a balance, creative planning, requirements planning, layout and design.
Duration: 3 days (or 6 evenings)
Level: Fundamental
Prerequisite: You should have a fundamental understanding of computer games in order to get the most out of this course.
